About Aelbrecht Bouts

Aelbrecht Bouts (1452-1549) was a Flemish painter from the early Renaissance period, known for his religious and historical paintings. He was the son of the prominent Flemish painter Dieric Bouts and followed in his father's artistic footsteps. Aelbrecht Bouts developed his own distinctive style characterized by meticulous attention to detail, vibrant colors, and a focus on naturalistic representation. His works often depicted religious narratives, including scenes from the life of Christ and the Virgin Mary, with a strong emphasis on emotional expression and human figures interacting in realistic settings. While not as widely recognized as his father, Aelbrecht Bouts made significant contributions to Flemish painting, leaving behind a body of work that reflects his skillful craftsmanship and artistic vision.
